NERDIC has worked with the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) to develop the unique Industry 4.0 Readiness Ecosystem Model.

This framework brings together the key organizations in the New England region to identify and deliver technical demonstration projects direct to businesses within the defense supply chain. Six Industry 4.0 technologies were identified with the roll out of Introductory Workshops and then in-depth demonstrations of each technology. The regional ecosystem was invited to attend these virtual events throughout 2021. These events were held virtually due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Going forward in 2022/2023 this work program will focus on:

  • Repeating the demonstration projects (using the existing demonstration repository) to reach further segments of the regional supply chain and expanding to include a peer-to-peer in-person component.
  • Testing and demonstrating iterations of core technologies used in the defense manufacturing supply chain.
  • Bringing Cybersecurity into the same platform, offering a more comprehensive online accessibility and expanding the reach on this core topic.
  • Building the model to make resources available 24/7 via online virtual modules, introductory workshops, and demonstration projects.

L3Harris was very impressed with the teamwork and collaboration with CCAT and SphereGen on the NERDIC sponsored Microsoft Halolens project. All partners were extremely professional and the commitment to excellence was present at every step. CCAT did an amazing job creating a representative model and printing out samples that were used by SphereGen to create an immersive environment for our operators and improving manufacturing efficacy by providing timely work instructions on demand. The activity was well received by our leadership, and we plan to further explore this technology for its applicability to other parts of our business. We are thankful and appreciative of being selected for this NERDIC activity and look forward to sharing future innovations with our leadership and deploying within our manufacturing locations.
